Rehband Knee Sleeves
Rehband Knee Sleeves are one of the most popular knee supports on the market. Take your workout to the next level with this premier option in knee support.
To clarify, knee sleeves are not the same thing as knee braces. A knee sleeve provides some support, but does not function in the same way a knee brace would. Knee braces are designed and used to protect a previous injury from further endangerment. Knee sleeves are designed to protect the knee from future injury or risk of damage. This protection is especially important for knees put under great daily pressure (running, jumping, weightlifting).
They add a valuable compression element that increases blood flow and reduces pain, not only during but also after performance. The reason this compression aspect is so important is that a compressed knee encourages blood flow through the blood vessels of the knee. Compression + blood flow = better recovery. Simply put, using a knee sleeve results in less pain and swelling during and after performance. In simple terms, the idea behind the knee sleeve is to reduce pain. More specifically, the sleeve adds warmth, limits patella movement, and can increase proprioception (the capacity to feel the position of a joint in space as sensed by the central nervous system). In other words, the sleeve is more than a mechanical support mechanism for the joint, but is also used to improve proprioception.*
Knee injuries are among the primary factors that sideline an athlete. Most people experience knee pain at some point in their life, whether it is due to a sprain, strain or muscle injury. Like any other joint in the body, knees are incredibly susceptible to injury. A quick step in the wrong direction, a misstep that results in a twist or even a fall can leave your knees feeling sore for some time. Knee injuries most often happen for one of three reasons: overextension / overexertion while working out, an accident on the job or an injury from a home project. Whatever the cause, one fact always remains true: when your knees are sore, it is difficult to do much of anything—let alone work out.
Knee injuries are typically lingering injuries. When you hurt your knee, it most often causes swelling and damage to a series of the small tendons and ligaments that make the joint work properly. The muscles, tendons and ligaments may feel sore time to time long after your injury, especially after periods of overuse. The smartest thing you can do is prevent a knee injury all together by taking the right precautions. However, if you have already experienced a knee injury, then preventative care is even more essential. Rehband knee supports are designed to reinforce the fundamental structure of the knee to prevent the experience of overextension and exertion.
Rehband knee sleeves come in a wide variety of colors and patterns, and in sizes that work for men and women alike. They are great for recovery periods after a knee injury, but also will stand up to the pressure of an intense WOD. Reinforce your knees to prevent injury and to stay on your feet.
